This Randy Parton Theater thing out in Roanoke Rapids, the $21 million project that was the first in the state to use tax increment financing, just keeps getting more bizarre.
Now it turns out that the city which built the thing and pays Parton $62,000 a month has no idea who gets the gift shop revenue or how much that might be. Then there is the fact that the venue has not booked anyone besides Parton for the rest of the year and that crowds for Parton’s shows have been sparse.
Can you say “tax hike” to pay for this thing?
