The Charlotte Business Journal has another snapshot of the $38 million Whitewater Center failing to produce as much revenue as projected.
Included is this classic observation from Mecklenburg County Commissioner Bill James: “Let’s face it: A bunch of scruffy kayakers are not going to be able to pay off $38 million in debt.”
Worse, any public money spent to cover their losses is money that could have been spent on things like softball or soccer fields. You know, stuff a lot more people use.
