Lotsa chatter via McClatchy Watch and elsewhere that we are weeks — perhaps days — away from additional workforce reductions at MNI.
I continue to wonder how much longer a top-heavy management structure can survive. I would not be at all surprised to see some papers double-up on publishers most of whom, after all, have next to nothing to do with the final product and function primarily in an abortive PR role. See Caulkins, Ann.
Update: Sounds like each MNI property is being asked to submit a cost reduction plan to the MNI brain-trust by the end of the week. Will be ugly.
