The big news today is that somebody is calling the ongoing saga of whether or not improvements should be made to I-26 in Asheville a “boondoggle.” Nothing’s new; somebody just applied a catchy word to a situation that isn’t making anybody happy. The job could have been over and done if not intercepted time and again by obstructionists demanding more studies and such.

You can look at the map and immediately see opportunities for streamlining, but it seems each DOT proposal wants to complicate things more. The opposition advocates more multimodal features.
