Democracy Journal asks some of the best liberal thinkers (not an oxymoron) their best ideas for the next administration and Congress. Larry Sabato suggests expanding the House of Representatives to 1,000 members. Lael Brainard, Robert Lawrence, and Brad Carson suggest new approaches to economic development and displacement. Michael Greenstone suggests a system of tradable water rights. Jeanne Lambrew suggests ways to get more private dollars into long-term care (something JLF recently addressed).

You may not agree with many of the premises, but it is remarkable how many of the suggestions rely on markets and private action instead of simple government expansions.
