When the spending gets tough, the tough get spending – or so government thinks. That could be why Hendersonville City Council is entertaining the thought of spending $1.3 to $1.7 million a year in debt service on a convention center, and hopes the private sector will build a companion hotel. On top of the debt service, once the center is operational, Hendersonville could expect to lose $400,000 a year, if the center is typical of others across the country.
