“Privatize it!” said the John Locke Foundation of the Asheville Civic Center. The private sector could operate it at a profit rather than a taxpayer deficit. Nobody listened enough to change anything, as the wisdom of conservative think tanks doesn’t talk as money can. Asheville City Council will likely approve via Tuesday’s consent agenda the receipt of a sum of money from unnamed “corporate partners.” Said partners will donate $5250:
for hosting events to educate key organizations and officials about the economic impact of the Civic Center.
While you might not know what this means, and it may sound like the unnamed corporate partners are going to get more than political smoke for their investment; at least they are using their own money, and not yours, to grow government.
