That’s how close Willow Spring Elementary School is to Tara Principe’s home. But thanks to the central planners at Wake County schools, Principe’s kids are instead in line to be bused from their neighborhood all the way to Garner. And it’s happening despite any evidence that Wake’s economic diversity policy increases student achievement. Even more frustrating is that most Wake County school board members don’t even want to know the actual impact of their policy. Last week, a Cary teenager put her opposition to the busing plan into very plain words that hopefully hit home to board members.
