Stabbed by her assailant as she came home from church on Sunday. The neighborhood, behind East Meck between Rama and Monroe, is not known as a high-crime area. Sound sickeningly familiar?
WCNC has more:
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say Mildred Clontz was attacked at her home on Knickerbocker Drive Sunday evening, near East Mecklenburg High School. She died Monday morning at Carolinas Medical Center.
Clontz’s brother said she had just come home from church when the man attacked her.
“As she was opening her door the attacker pushed her inside the house and went in and did his knife work. Evidently he was close by. She didn’t know he was there as she opened the door,” said Roy Preslar, Clontz’ brother.
The suspect stabbed her multiple times.
“I understand that both sides of her throat were slashed and several stab wounds,” said Preslar.
The killer took off with $100 in cash, Clontz’s credit and debit cards, handbag and driver’s license, which she proudly just had renewed.
Get ready for all the crap about how this was a random crime, no one is “targeting” the elderly, etc. CMPD thinks we are all stupid just because they have the Uptown paper of record totally hoodwinked. Criminals look for victims. Put a six-four ex-Marine in that doorway and I guarantee he doesn’t get jumped. The fact is Charlotte is teaming with violent repeat offenders literally hunting for their next victim.
Those paying attention know the score. If you are a law-abiding citizen in the Queen City, you are on your own. If you expect your person and property to be safe at all times, you are on your own. And if you dare say any of this out loud, you are a crank or a kook.
Well, I’m crankin’ — I suggest you do the same.
Bonus Observation: On cue, a classic CYA edit from the Uptown paper of record. An uneasy Queen City calls on CMPD to go on a PR campaign to convince Charlotte that it is really safe. Crime is “complicated” you see, and people do not “feel” safe — so lie to them some more. Maybe have more bread and circuses Uptown. This stuff is beyond parody.
Update: WBTV reports that the family thinks Clontz was indeed targeted by someone who knew her movements and who probably lives nearby.
