Now and then, someone in the media makes a decision that again raises the specter of bias against conservative views and institutions. Here’s an example of a recent Associated Press story about the lottery and a discrepancy between the versions that ran in the Charlotte Observer and the Fayetteville Observer. The link Fayetteville’s story has expired, but the only difference between the two is whether or not they carried a quote from John Hood. The Charlotte story did; the Fayetteville story did not. One has to wonder what was objectionable about this paragraph: “It is an issue that is going to be the marquee for the session,” said John Hood of the conservative-leaning John Locke Foundation of the lottery. Hmm.
