One of the week’s major news stories involved the visit of the “Ground Zero Imam,” Feisal Abdul Rauf, to the University of North Carolina campus in Chapel Hill. John Locke Foundation President John Hood participated in a three-person panel who interviewed the imam after his public presentation. A Daily Tar Heel editorial about Rauf’s speech mentioned Hood. He discussed Rauf’s visit during two appearances with Rick and Donna Martinez on WPTF Radio. Speaking of radio, Curtis Wright of WAAV/WFNC interviewed Hood about legislation that would reverse North Carolina’s longstanding ban of coastal terminal groins. N.C. Senate Republicans’ daily press e-mail cited Hood’s columns this week on the future of public broadcasting, the corporate tax rate, “green-collar” jobs, and North Carolina’s need for serious leaders. Hood’s latest contributions to National Review Online’s primary blog, “The Corner,” included observations about the history of European monarchies and public broadcasting.
