U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales didn’t rule out an investigation into the prosecution by Durham DA Mike Nifong of the Duke lacrosse rape allegations when asked about it in an interview with Fox News over the weekend. U.S. Rep. Walter Jones asked for the investigation last week. So far, U.S. Rep. David Price, who is actually Durham and Duke’s congressman (not to mention being a professor at Duke for 30 years), has had nothing to say on the matter. From WRAL:

In an interview with Fox News on Sunday, United States Attorney General Alberto Gonzales confirmed he received a letter asking for a federal probe into the investigation, in which an exotic dancer claims three lacrosse players raped her at a March 13 party.

“Well, that is a letter that we recently received,” Gonzales told Fox News’ Brian Wilson. “It’s being evaluated at the (Department of Justice). I can’t say anything — anything beyond that.”
