An assessment by analysts at the U.S. Army’s National Ground Intelligence Center says the media helped coalition forces lose the battle of Falluja:

The authors said the press was “crucial to building political pressure to halt military operations,” from the Iraqi government and the Coalition Provisional Authority, which resulted in a “unilateral cease-fire” by U.S. forces on April 9, after just five days of combat operations.

I would have to add the Democratic Party to the list of culprits. They’re the ones who, along with the mainstream media and the America-hating antiwar crowd, applied the political pressure to lose.

As Glenn Reynolds says of the media’s performance:

They could hardly do more damage if they were on the other side.
