Tom Maguire points to a KC Johnson post that points out that Barack Obama joined in the call for a Department of Justice investigation into Durham District Attorney Mike Nifong’s handling of the Duke lacrosse rape hoax while Hillary Clinton did not. Glenn Reynolds also linked to Maguire’s post on Johnson’s observation. The implication seems to be that Obama’s position on a DOJ investigation gave him an electoral edge over Clinton in North Carolina.

There’s only one problem with that. Obama’s fervid backers here in North Carolina are exactly the ones who were banging pots and pans in front of the house on N. Buchanan Boulevard back in March 2006.
