Of course a solution to help fund the budget, a TAX INCREASE, from the Citizen-Times:

Haywood County Manager David Cotton recently presented a $64 million proposed fiscal year 2009-10 budget to the Board of County Commissioners that includes an increase in the property tax rate of 1.7 cents and a reduction in the county workforce of up to 35 personnel.

Citing the global economic recession that is affecting all facets of daily life, Cotton stated in his budget message that the proposed FY2009-10 budget represents a continuation of the prudent steps the county has taken throughout the current fiscal year to respond to the growing recession.
