This endorsement came in to me Monday evening, after reading John’s List of newspaper endorsements. It’s not from the media but it does bring out a salient point.
The Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) set up an internal PAC this year to allow the nonprofit to be more active in electoral politics. While it’s no surprise that they’ve endorsed George W. Bush for president, their first consideration is the broadest:
Our basic approach to the federal role for homeschooling is that we want to be left alone ? Agreement with our views on freedom would be a long time coming–if ever–from any other major candidate.
Substitute your favorite freedom for “homeschooling” in this statement; that’s a goal I think we can all support, and one that most Democratic and too many Republican candidates don’t.
