In Massachusetts, the state got rid of its Film Office years ago, and its ex-director raised money to start a private film office that would do the same things — namely recruit Hollywood filmmakers to the state. But a few years later the state created another film office, and now the state-run office is trying to put the private one out of business. The tale is complete with mafia connections and Hollywood backstabbing. You can read about it in today’s Boston Globe. Whoever wins, one aspect of the saga is glaringly obvious. It would make a good movie.
