Donna, Miriam Makeba was married to Stokely Carmichal, the former Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee chairman and Black Panther Party “honorary prime minister,” so her radical views come naturally. She and Carmichael moved to West Africa in the 1970’s, where he changed his name to Kwame Ture and formed the All-African People’s Revolutionary Party. He died in 1998, a revolutionary to the end, no doubt still admiring Castro, as she obviously does, as well.
