I respectfully disagree with Hugh Hewitt on this one (as my column this week
makes clear). It?s one thing to write a letter to the editor condemning
a cartoon, or withhold your patronage from a newspaper or a TV network,
as we do in the free-market West. It’s quite another to call in death
threats
.

The real issue here is the culture clash: should
countries bend to those moving into them or should those moving in make
the concessions. I think the latter. I also think those Euro papers
realized it was time to draw a line in the cultural sand, and that?s
what they did. I don?t think it was for cheap thrills. They had come to
understand that EVERYTHING is treated as an ?affront? to Muslims.
