Our good friend Peter Wood, who spoke at the Pope Center’s conferences in 1999 and 2003, is now the provost at The King’s College in New York. On NRO today, he points out a good deed of his — killing off the ed school at his college.

Schools of education are intellectual wastelands where mediocre to poor students go to be fed a load of “progressive” educational sludge before they are turned loose on hapless children. Congrats to Peter for closing one down!

BTW, they don’t have ed schools in Japan. People who want to go into teaching first get a real degree in some academic discipline and then they apply to become teaching apprentices.
