Would State Treasurer Moore like to debate Walter Williams on the advisability of raising the state’s minimum wage? Or repealing it entirely? How about you, John Edwards?

Here’s a thought experiment: instead of coercively raising the wage the workers must be paid, why not coercively lower the prices of all the stuff they purchase? The government could decree that a pound of apples must be priced at 49 cents for low wage workers, that a gallon of gas must be priced at $1 and so on. Wouldn’t that be just as “compassionate” and helpful?
