First we have an incredibly dumb statement by one of UPenn’s foremost journalism educators, followed by the revelation that UPenn’s president, Amy Gutmann, hosted a Halloween party at which she posed with a “freedom fighter” wearing a kefiya (see below). The “freedom fighter” also is shown reading the Koran and pointing his toy gun at the head of a “hostage.” What fun! This prompted the folks at Democracy Project blog to ask:
An obvious question: would Gutmann have posed with a guest–or even
allowed him into her house ? if he’d dressed as Adolf Hitler or a Nazi
SS officer? A KKK member?
I think we all know the answer to that one.
