Goldberg quotes a good line of Mencken’s (about how Harry Truman would have offered up missionaries fattened at taxpayer expense if he could have gotten any cannibal votes in 1948) and here’s another that applies at least as well to Hillary’s plea for votes because she’s going to give people government goodies: “Elections are just advance auctions of stolen goods.”
