That idea is the problem. Kids are now being taught that they are powerless against rude words. I’ve written occasionally that kids are unable to deal with even the idea of offense ? it’s mollycoddling garbage like this (and the thinking behind it) that’s the reason.
To reprise another post:
Does no one teach kids the old maxim “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me”?
Apparently not. Now they’re just taught “words hurt.”
