The D.C. Public Schools spent more than $13,000 per student in 2006, third highest in the nation.
At the same time, “D.C. public school scores on math and reading were the lowest in the country last year, according to results of the National Assessment of Educational Progress tests released in September.”
The National Education Association had no comment.
