The White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley said in an interview Sunday morning on ABC’s This Week that Medicare will run out of money within five years without large reform. The transcript can be found here.

This interview communicated particularly interesting wording given that House Speaker John Boehner released a statement just Saturday indicating that after speaking with the President smaller measures should be taken to achieve budget success given the distance between Democrats and Republicans.

More importantly, though, is that Obama’s Chief of Staff admitted in the interview that if re-elected, Medicare will run out of money before the end of President Obama’s second term.

Perhaps I should stop being so negative and criticizing the Administration for not passing a budget in more than 800 days and creating a reform plan that will bankrupt states. Instead, maybe I should just be thrilled that they have finally looked at the Medicare numbers and acknowledged we’re in trouble…
