While reading Bloomberg Businessweek‘s article about the American Airlines bankruptcy, I noted the following observation:

Analysts now point to a possible merger with US Airways Group, itself the product of a 2005 merger of America West and then-bankrupt US Airways. Even if that were consummated—a big if, given the antitrust implications—such an arrangement wouldn’t offer American a huge advantage in crucial overseas business markets.

Meck Deck aviation maven Michael Lowrey said much the same thing during a recent interview with News 14 Carolina.
