The Winston-Salem City Council’s Public Safety Committee chose not to vote on council members Dan Besse’s proposal to restrict protests at City Hall.

Besse’s proposal would have temporarily restricted open-air public meetings to between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. The committee’s inaction means Occupy protesters can hold overnight meetings on City Hall grounds, but camping and sleeping are still prohibited.

It will be interesting to see if Occupy Winston-Salem will continue to push the limits of the ordinance, prompting another confrontation with police.
