At the bottom of Amanda Lehmert’s N&R article on Greensboro City Manager Denise Turner Roth’s proposed budget cuts (more about that later) is this an interesting bit of news:

In other council news, the International Civil Rights Center & Museum wants $1.5 million from Greensboro over the next three years.

The City Council is considering giving the museum money for a new program to bring more students to the museum.

The museum asked the city to pay transportation and other costs for the project. The city staff hasn’t figured out how to pay for the project if the council approves it.

On Tuesday, Mayor Robbie Perkins asked the museum to provide more information about its financial stability before the council makes a decision.

Attendance hasn’t been anywhere near what former Guilford County Commissioner Skip Alston & Co. expected, so this should come as no surprise.
