The whole internet world may be exploding over the incendiary comments made yesterday by Teamster goon Jimmy Hoffa Jr., but you’d never know it if you’re a reader of the print version of The News & Observer of Raleigh.
I get the e-edition, which is a graphical depiction of the print paper, and there is not one word in it about the scandalous events that unfolded in Detroit yesterday. Hoffa, warming up the crowd for President Obama, said:
“We got to keep an eye on the battle that we face: The war on workers. And you see it everywhere, it is the Tea Party. And you know, there is only one way to beat and win that war. The one thing about working people is we like a good fight. And you know what? They’ve got a war, they got a war with us and there’s only going to be one winner. It’s going to be the workers of Michigan, and America. We’re going to win that war,” Hoffa told thousands of workers gathered for the annual event organized by the Detroit Labor Council.
“President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march…Everybody here’s got a vote…Let’s take these sons of bitches out and give America back to an America where we belong,” he concluded.
The N&O ran a lengthy wire story on Obama’s speech, made only moments after Hoffa’s tirade, but the story made not mention of Hoffa or his comments. If you ever wondered how the mainstream media manipulates the news to Democrats’ advantage, this is a perfect case to study.
On the same day that Hoffa was calling for war against Republicans, Vice President Joe Biden was going all medieval and telling union members that they are the only people “keeping the barbarians from the gates.”
Remember after the Tucson shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, when something as innocuous as a surveyor’s location mark on a map was considered incendiary and violence-inducing? Remember when our Ivy League college professor president calmly warned us against violent rhetoric and urged a new tone and civility?
How does that square with his decision to say nothing in rebuke to Hoffa when he got up to the microphone? As some wag said on the radio this morning, that can be excused because there was no time to get anything on the Telepromter.
That may be a lame excuse for Obama, but there is no excuse for a daily newspaper not to have this story in its pages this morning. Pitiful.
