I blogged last week about how Gov. Bev Perdue and Durham Mayor Bill Bell were in Durham pushing kids to hop on the free-lunch bandwagon. I characterized it as the two politicians pushing “dependency crack,” my point being that if you hook them early they’ll stay addicted through adulthood, which apparently is a Democratic Party aim.

I caught a lot of flak for using a drug analogy, but I defend it. Especially after listening to this alarming interview with Jessica Milcetich, the General Services Administration’s social media director. The GSA has a $5,000 prize for the best citizen-made video promoting government services. You can hear it below:

It seems to me that people like Perdue, Bell, and Milcetich should be expending time and effort to get people OFF government assistance, not get them on. But that’s just me. One has to ask, why are they so anxious to expand the rolls of welfare dependency. Does the term “Democratic plantation” come to mind?
