While most local governments stew, at least pretentiously, about which essential services should be cut, and how much employee pay will have to be docked – the Black Mountain Board of Aldermen was split over whether the clubhouse at the municipal golf course should be rehabbed or demolished for a rebuild. It would cost a considerable amount to bring the building up to code, and some aldermen supposed it was shabby enough to throw a monkey wrench into the community’s sense of place.
