The Town of Franklin sprayed weed killer on an ancient Native American mound.

“I think it is totally disrespectful and terrible for them to be so cheap that they won’t just cut the grass,” said Lamar Marshall, a local historian on Cherokee sites and places. “They are always bellyaching about having to mow the grass on it.”

The town rebutted their action was a “one-time thing.” They intended to replant the mound with eco-grass to decrease the amount of disturbance caused by the weight and air pollution of the mowing team.
