In Swain County, 1200 property owners who appealed their revaluations have not yet received new valuations. The initial reval notices were mailed on April 19, and property owners were given twenty days to appeal. Upon receiving a second appraisal, they are to be given thirty days to challenge it. Twenty-four residents, who did not want to wait until it was too late, bypassed communicating with the company contracted for the revals, and went straight to the county’s Board of Equalization and Review.
