Henderson County commissioners approved a series of legal documents Wednesday to better position Pardee Hospital to adjust to a rapidly changing health care climate.
“I think it’s fair to say … that the future of health care is almost impossible to predict because it changes every day,” [County Attorney Russ] Burrell said. “What the law is and what the law will be tomorrow is almost unknowable. The intent in setting this up was to increase flexibility of the hospital to meet whatever that future holds.
In a similar vein, Mission Hospital’s CEO Ron Paulus is going to accept a 26% salary cut to share the pain as 70 hospital workers will be laid off.
