Here’s another reason why you should run for office. As you know, $50,000 in checks took a little walk from the Macon County Board of Elections. As a consequence, the board must now pay two directors: one to sit on administrative leave, and the other to do her job while the investigation proceeds. The only out of this predicament, of course, is to have lots and lots of people pay filing fees.
Thus far, we do know that said director was writing checks to women and pocketing them herself. This is positive in two ways: First, it shows on paper that the board was contracting with minorities, and secondly, the funds did go to a minority.
