As the economy has swooned during the past couple of years, many people have been looking for reasons. They’ve also been interested to learn how businesses and governments addressed past economic crises.

Bruce Caldwell specializes in the history of economic thought. The Duke University research professor directs the Center for the History of Political Economy. He addressed the John Locke Foundation’s Shaftesbury Society today.
