More reason for NC Climate Commission to remove Paschauri testimony

Once again IPCC Chair Rajendra Pachauri has proven himself to be a global warming ideologue whose testimony to the NC Legislative Commission on Climate Change in 2008 should not be trusted and should be expunged from the official record. Most recently it has been disclosed that he purposely withheld information from the Copenhagen global warming conference regarding the melting of the Himalayan glaciers.  The IPCC 2007 report included a statement suggesting that the glaciers would likely melt by 2035. A few weeks ago it was discovered that the statement was not based on sound science, or any science at all for that matter. According to the Times of London, Pachauri knew about the error well before the Copenhagan conference but purposely did not disclose it until after the meeting. According to the Times:

Rajendra Pachauri was told that the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
assessment that the glaciers would disappear by 2035 was wrong, but he
waited two months to correct it. He failed to act despite learning that the
claim had been refuted by several leading glaciologists…

Dr Pachauri, who played a leading role at the summit, corrected the error last
week after coming under media pressure. He told The Times on January
22 that he had only known about the error for a few days…

The Times notes that:

The Himalayan glaciers are so thick and at such high altitude that most
glaciologists believe they would take several hundred years to melt at the
present rate. Some are growing and many show little sign of change.

In December it was revealed that Pachauri faced a significant conflict of interest as IPCC chief in that he is heavily invested in companies that stand to benefit if the alarmist global warming agenda is implemented. Then just last week it was revealed that the source of the glaciergate misinformation was an employee of Pachauri and that he used that information to acquire hundreds of thousands of dollars in grant money for his company. 

Because of all of the controversy surrounding Pachauri’s role as IPCC chief the NC Climate Commission should not use any of his testimony in formulating their recommendations to the legislature. He has shown himself to be a completely unreliable source.
