Fellow Charlotte blog Nothing Could Be Finer evidently has a time machine or some supernatural power, given what was posted way back on November 9th and what transpired last night at the county commissioners’ meeting:

It’s never said out loud any more, of course, but we all know what it is. I mean, after all the furor over the lawsuits over busing to fight segregation, and the schools being classified by the judge’s ruling as now being desegregated and ending forced busing, and the resignation last year of the school superintendant, do you really not know what the uptown crowd really thinks (or want’s people to believe) is the reason why the bonds failed?

Yup! That’s right. The untold accusation is that RACIST white suburbanites voted down school bonds in order to deliberately hurt black urban schoolkids. It’s all racism, all the time. Of course, no one will ever actually say that, but you can hear it in the holier-than-thou, we-know-better-than-you attitude that the school board and city council and certain county commission members are all giving us as they wring their hands over the injustice of maybe having to come up with a school funding plan that the people will actually support.

But Nothing was wrong in that someone finally did say it outloud. And guess what? We are all better off for it.
