The Charlotte city council up-zoned land around a South Blvd. transit station — surprise! — to support higher density. A Dilworth neighborhood group opposed the change. Too bad.
Mid-rise, high-density development is what light rail is supposed to bring, at least according to the central planners. The funny thing is that this particular devleopment plan wasn’t quite Golidlocks enough for the Charlotte city planners — they wanted it a little less high, a little less dense.
But no matter, city council voted 6-5 to approve the $55 million project as is — and it should be finished by 2009.
