The Board should do everything in its power to make the re-valuation revenue neutral. This will mean taking a hard look at the County budget to focus and direct budget dollars on core government services. Specifically, we need to minimize the County’s expenditures on some of the “bling” projects that we have committed to in the past (i.e., Whitewater and the baseball stadium) and avoid similar follies in the future, at least until the economy improves dramatically. State and local governments all over the country are pulling back in light of the new economic realities; we will need to do likewise.
