This is a fascinating development to me. An arm of the Charlotte Black Political Caucus is disgruntled enough with chairman Dwayne Collins that they are ready to toss him over the side. The proximate cause is supposed to money — it usually is in politics.

But I wonder about the expectations that the Obama presidency ushered in amongst the liberal activist component of the black community. As we noted a couple weeks after the election, local upset and petition for redress was running fast and furious for some local folks. Is part of the dissatisfaction with the perceived inability of Obama to right these wrongs bouncing back toward local leaders like Collins?

We’ll have to see what the Caucus — and the facts — have to say about that supposition.
