North Carolina has made great strides in improving education options over the past six years, but much work still needs to be done. That was one of the key messages former state Rep. Marcus Brandon shared during a presentation to the John Locke Foundation’s Shaftesbury Society.
Brandon, now executive director of the education advocacy group Carolina CAN, says a key impediment to reform is the popular mind-set that state government is responsible for education in North Carolina. In the video clip below, Brandon addresses problems tied to that top-down approach.
