Carolina Journal’s David Bass and I have blogged about the ongoing debate over UNC’s student health insurance plan and whether premiums from all enrollees will help fund abortions. Students can opt out of the abortion coverage but the question of funding remains and is serious.
In this Daily Tar Heel story about Gov. Perdue’s 4-sentence letter to Students for Life of America, Lee Storrow of VOX: Voices for Planned Parenthood made this comment: (emphasis is mine)
But others believe that by making the benefit optional for students, the system has already dealt with the issue.
“Her response was absolutely appropriate,” said Lee Storrow, UNC student and member of VOX: Voices for Planned Parenthood.
“In my mind, this issue is over,” he said. “We have a compromise that works for everyone.”
“Everyone” except for the human being whose life is being terminated.
