Over at James Glassman’s TechCentralStation website, John Ellis has a good reaction piece to the New Hampshire presidential results and the strategic choice facing John Kerry. I agree with Ellis that, while Howard Dean and Wes Clark can still play a bit of a spoiler role, the only real alternative to Kerry now is, yes, Johnny Edwards. Ellis thinks Kerry should follow the lead of George Bush in 1988 ? “shooting the wounded” in the next round of primaries. That means going all out to squelch Edwards in the three February 3 contests in which the NC senator will be competitive: South Carolina, Missouri, and Oklahoma. Edwards arguably needs to win at least two of these, and probably three, to knock Kerry out of inevitability.
