Most of the idiotic labels that pass as politically correct have a Big Brother aroma about them, but not many are as redolent of Orwell as something the city of New York has on its books, and which it wants to be able to give to anyone smoking in a public park (emphasis added):

That means no smoking in Central Park or on the Coney Island boardwalk. Violators could be issued quality-of-life summonses by the parks department.

Maybe nanny-state Mayor Michael Bloomberg should be more concerned with bedbugs than people smoking in Central Park or at Coney Island. I think that’s a much more serious quality of life issue.
