I’m glad WBTV is tracking this issue, but color me skeptical that there has been any huge reduction in the number of illegal aliens in and around Charlotte.
First, it may just be a seasonal dip, or closely tracking a drop in construction activity, which may pick up shortly or which may merely drive illegal labor to other sectors in time. Second, I need to see some numbers on CMS enrollment this year and next to tell if there is really a population shift underway.
There is no doubt that CMS added thousands of students in the past decade who were either illegal themselves or the children of illegal aliens. If that remains unchanged, any “exodus” is overblown.
