The Obamacrats are telling people with a straight face that if this new program of theirs is enacted, it will actually slightly reduce the gigantic federal budget deficits the nation is facing. This editorial in today’s WSJ covers some important history, namely the initial cost projects for other federal health programs. How accurate have they been? In almost every instance, they’ve been way, way below the actual costs.

Imagine if the seller of an appliance told customers that it would lower their electric bills and then, when put in use, it caused the purchaser’s electric bills to triple. The customer would have an airtight case of breach of warranty and could return the appliance and get his money back. Unfortunately, government promises aren’t warranties and we can’t take laws back for a refund.
