The graphic designer will create compelling and effective creative materials in support of the mission of the John Locke Foundation and The Carolina Journal. These will include, but are not limited to, data graphics, research reports, one-pagers, marketing materials, email campaigns, and graphics for videos.
The graphic designer will report directly to the Vice President of Communications but should be comfortable working on an ad hoc basis directly with internal clients.
Responsibilities:
• Receive and execute direction and feedback from Vice President of Communications, work cohesively with other members of the communications team, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Create individual graphics for use within articles, print products, and social media
• Print document layouts
• Design email marketing campaigns
• Some degree of writing and proofreading will be required (e.g. copywriting video descriptions, creative ad copy, etc.)
Qualifications/skills needed:
• Degree in graphic design, advertising, or equivalent experience
• Proficiency in industry-standard creative software (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) and technology (HTML/CSS, Javascript, etc.)
• Familiarity with WordPress
• Proficiency, or ability to gain proficiency, in the use of industry-standard marketing technologies (Mailchimp, Classy, etc.)
• Data visualization expertise
