In the follow-up to Monday night’s confrontation between Alamance County Commissioner Bill Lashley and Fairness Alamance spokesman David Blair, no one is disputing that Lashley “threatened to beat Blair and cursed at him when Blair greeted him and shook his hand.”
At least the Burlington Times-News is reporting it as fact. What is in dispute is whether or not Blair provoked Lashley:
Democratic Commissioner Ann Vaughan and Republican board member Tim Sutton were standing nearby when Lashley threatened Blair on Monday.
Blair was “trying to be social, trying to be nice” and didn’t give Lashley any cause to threaten or curse him, Vaughan said.
….Sutton had a completely different take on the encounter.
Blair provoked Lashley, Sutton said.
Blair walked toward Lashley with a grin on his face masking arrogance and stuck his hand “in between some people” in an insincere attempt to shake Lashley’s hand, Sutton said.
“Blair was wanting a confrontation. And when a man wants a confrontation with a man who’s willing to give you one, that’s what happens.
“You see, Blair is a very arrogant person,” Sutton continued. He sat there in the audience all night (Monday) night with a smile on his face. He thinks he’s the cat bird.”
Things are only going get hotter, because Fairness Alamance —-a pro-illegal immigration group —–wants Sheriff Terry Johnson out of office come November. In a bad way.
